On March 13, 2022, H.E. Li Jiming, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh, attended a media briefing session titled “Spring Dialogue with China” and shared his thoughts on a wide rage of issues. The dialogue was hosted by the Embassy of China in Bangladesh in collaboration with The Business Standard (TBS). Mr. Inam Ahmed, Editor of TBS, moderated the dialogue. About 60 correspondents from local media agencies attended the event.

Ambassador Li opened the dialogue by welcoming friends from media to this in-person reunion. During the dialogue, Ambassador Li briefed the media on China’s “Two Sessions”, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics & Paralympics, and the Global Development Initiative (GDI), reviewed the achievements of China-Bangladesh relations in recent years such as the progress of major infrastructure projects and anti-pandemic cooperation , and explained China’s positions on a series of regional and international issues including the Rohingya issue, the Ukraine issue, and the so-called QUAD and AUKUS. Ambassador Li also interacted with the audience and took a number of questions from the journalists. 

Ambassador Li concluded the dialogue by highlighting a recent catch phrase among Chinese netizens during the two Olympics, “you can always trust China”, which is perfectly applicable to China-Bangladesh relations, and envisioned a even brighter future for both countries. The dialogue lasted for more than one and a half hours, and was held in a friendly and candid atmosphere.
