On 8 April 2023, H.E. Mr. Yao Wen, the Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, visited Rangpur District, and attended the groundbreaking ceremony of North Point Medical College & Hospital invested by a Chinese enterprise. In his speech, Ambassador Yao Wen noted that China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors, and China would like to work closely with Bangladesh to bring bilateral relations to a new height. He also stressed that the hospital is a project of public well-being, which would tremendously benefit the local people. H.E. Mr. Tipu Munshi, MP, Hon'ble Minister of Commerce, together with other guests present at the ceremony, spoke highly of the friendship between China and Bangladesh and welcomed more investment from China.

On the same day, Ambassador Yao Wen also met with Mr. Md Jahurul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the field of agricultural processing.
