On December 28, 2014, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh met with Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Gono Bhaban in Dhaka.

Hasina expressed that China's development is the benchmark of Asia and has become an example for Bangladesh to seek development and change the backward condition. Bangladesh stands ready to jointly celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the bilateral diplomatic relationship with China and eagerly looks forward to visits of Chinese leaders to Bangladesh. Bangladesh spoke highly of a series of practical cooperation initiatives proposed by Minister Wang Yi during this visit, hoping that China will import more Bangladeshi goods, increase investment in Bangladesh, and help Bangladesh develop industrial parks and construct infrastructure. Bangladesh is willing to actively participate in the construction of the "Belt and Road" and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar (BCIM) Economic Corridor so as to promote cooperation between South Asia and East Asia and push forward its own development.

Wang Yi expressed that since the establishment of diplomatic relationship, China and Bangladesh have always shown mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual support. This year Prime Minister Hasina successfully visited China and further promoted a closer bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership with Chinese leaders. China is striving to realize its "two centennial goals" while Bangladesh is committed to the realization of its dream of listing among the medium-income countries by 2021. Chinese Dream and Bangladeshi Dream are connected and represent the aspiration of pursuing better life of the two peoples, the righteous demand of expanding common interests of developing countries and the trend of continuous development and rejuvenation in Asia. Both sides should take the opportunity of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship to maintain high-level mutual visits, expand mutually beneficial cooperation and inject new powerful impetus into China-Bangladesh relations. China stands ready to help Bangladesh develop modern agriculture, strengthen capacity of industrial production, improve infrastructure and overcome the bottleneck of energy supply so as to promote Bangladesh for faster development. China appreciates that Bangladesh supports and participates in the construction of the "Belt and Road". China will push forward relevant cooperation with various countries in the region in the spirit of joint discussion, joint construction and joint sharing. China stands ready to work with Bangladesh to speed up the construction of the BCIM Economic Corridor and give play to Bangladesh's geographical advantages of connecting two major markets of East Asia and South Asia. Both sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs and uphold justice and safeguard interests for vast developing countries.
