The “19th Asian Games Fun Run” Event Held in Dhaka

On May 17th, the "19th Asian Games Fun Run" (Dhaka Station) event, part of the promotional activities for the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, was held in Dhaka.

This event is co-hosted by the Bangladesh Olympic Association, the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, and the Olympic Council of Asia. Mr Liwen Yue, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, Syed Shahed Reza, Secretary General of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh, Meng Sanshan, Deputy Director of Finance of the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, Jeans Zhou Jian, Director of Media and Broadcasting of the Olympic Council of Asia, and over 500 local people participated in the fun run.

Syed Shahed Reza stated that the fun run event received significant attention and attracted enthusiastic participation from many people, reflecting the passion and spirit of Bangladeshi people towards sports. The event also allowed more Bangladeshi people to learn about the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Liwen Yue expressed that sports transcend borders and have a unifying power. The fun run event, while promoting the Hangzhou Asian Games, also conveys the ideals of friendship, cooperation, and unity to the people of Bangladesh. As the host country, China welcomes athletes from all countries to participate in the Hangzhou Asian Games and wishes the Bangladeshi athletes success.

The participants of this event paraded from the Bangladesh Shishu Academy to the National Sports Stadium. Then, they were divided into different groups according to age and gender, and had fun competitions on the outdoor sports field. The winners were awarded Hangzhou Asian Games commemorative badges and "Fun Run Certificates" . Many contestants said that they have already felt the atmosphere of the Asian Games in advance, and they look forward to the Hangzhou Asian Games bringing an exciting event to sports fans.

The "19th Asian Games Fun Run" has previously been held in Cambodia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, and other countries, allowing more participants from different nations to learn about the Asian Games and experience the charm of sports.
