"International Chinese Language Day" was originally established by UNESCO on April 20, 2010, to celebrate the traditional Chinese solar term "Grain Rain" and to commemorate Cang Jie, the official historian of the Yellow Emperor and the legendary inventor of Chinese characters. Since then, many organizations have held various activities around this date each year to promote the Chinese language and culture. The photography contest is one of the series of "International Chinese Language Day" activities organized by the three Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) in Bangladesh.
