On April 18th, 2024, H.E. Mr. Yao Wen, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh, attended the opening ceremony of the Chinese Visa Application Center (CVC) in Dhaka and delivered a speech. The opening ceremony was also attended by more than 60 participants such as Mr. Toufique Hasan, Director General of the East Asia & Pacific Wing of the MFA, Bangladeshi officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh Investment Development Authority, Department of Immigration, Special Branch and the Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh, representatives from the visa operators CIIC Group and Qiandaifu Company, representatives from Chinese-funded institutions  and overseas Chinese in Bangladesh, as well as media journalists.

Ambassador Yao Wen warmly congratulated the launching of the CVC and said that, in recent years, the strategic cooperation between China and Bangladesh has sustained a sound momentum of growth, and the two countries enjoy an increasingly close and frequent exchanges at all levels. In order to further facilitate the people-to-people exchanges, the Chinese part decided to set up the CVC, which is a common practice in globe. In accordance with regulations, the Embassy will rigorously oversee the operations of the CVC to ensure that applicants receive services that are both comfortable and reliable. The launching of the CVC is another new measure by the Embassy in the short term to facilitate Bangladeshi citizens' travel to China. It is believed that, following its launching, the CVC will significantly enhance the efficiency of visa issuance and the service provided to visa applicants. 

Director General Toufique and other Bangladeshi guests spoke highly of the important role that the CVC has played, and thanked China for its strong support and help in further promoting personnel exchanges between China and Bangladesh.
