Wang Yi Meets with Chairwoman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party Begum Khaleda Zia

On December 28, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Chairwoman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Begum Khaleda Zia in Dhaka.

Wang Yi appreciated the important contributions made by Zia and the BNP under her leadership for many years to the development of China-Bangladesh relations. He expressed that with the coming of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Bangladesh, China is willing to work with all Bangladeshi political parties and all sectors of the society to carry forward China-Bangladesh friendship and continuously strengthen the friendship between the two peoples. China is ready to conduct practical cooperation with Bangladesh in a wide range of areas so as to bring more benefits to the Bangladeshi people. China attaches importance to relations with the BNP and is willing to maintain the tradition of inter-party exchanges, enhance mutual understanding and promote the development of bilateral relations.

Wang Yi said stability and development is the prerequisite for national development. As a good friend of Bangladesh, China sincerely hopes all Bangladeshi political parties properly resolve differences through dialogue and work together for national stability and development.

Zia said China is a true and reliable friend of Bangladesh. China's peaceful development has attracted worldwide attention and the development of strategic cooperation with China is crucial for Bangladesh. The BNP welcomes China to help Bangladesh achieve industrialization and modernization and supports the continuous enhancement of friendship between the two peoples.
